Welcome

Whatever stage you are at building your business as an industry best thinker, this community is for you.

Labeling yourself an ‘Expert’ can feel a stretch, I know! Especially if you’ve been brought up from a young age not to boast and how to fit in. However, the time to stand up for your expertise and know your worth is right now.

The days of being valued for showing up on time and performing a functional role, were disappearing long before unemployment levels hit unprecedented levels. To stand out and thrive now, we need to focus on being able to deliver exceptional value that justifies our way, and communicating it so we get the attention of those who need our help most.

What is the Expert Economy?

As new technology continues to transform the world and how we do business, a new economy is emerging and a new type of entrepreneur for whom the challenges and risks of building a business are very different. With this comes the need for a radically different approach to marketing.

At The Expert Economy, we introduce our clients to a step-by-step methodology so they quickly become the ‘go-to’ expert in their industry and get paid their worth, as well as provide the community and support needed to succeed, in what really is, an unknown world.

As an Expert Entrepreneur, we ideally want to be spending 70% of our time working on billable projects, 20% of our time studying to remain an expert, and 10% of our time managing our business.

In reality, however, most Expert Entrepreneurs never earn enough to replace their full-time salary.

Instead, they become so distracted by the steep learning curve required to win new clients, that soon find they are no longer industry experts or fulfilled in their work.

And worse, their confidence is severely knocked, and so is their bank account.

At The Expert Economy, we’re on a mission to change this. Along with introducing you to a step-by-step marketing methodology designed especially for the Expert Entrepreneur, our community is here to help you successfully navigate the road less travelled.

We believe

Claiming to be an expert has nothing to do with ego, and everything to do with being able to deliver a transformational result; a result that takes a client from where they are now to where they need to get to.

We believe

Being an Expert Entrepreneur is not about having all the answer, but having the knowledge and experience to flex and innovate, and stick with a client until they arrive at the designation, no matter what obstacles are thrown up at us.

We believe

That our goal is to solve meaningful problems for our clients, and that means remaining an expert in our field. It doesn’t mean getting distracted with complex marketing campaigns or needing to build influencer status.

We believe

That we should be billing 70% of our time, spending 20% of our time studying to remain an expert in our industry, and 10% of our time moving all the pieces around. And that by making sales and marketing a natural by-product of our study time, we will remain inspired and fulfilled in our purpose.

We believe

If a prospect can implement the solution for themselves, they should do so. We only want to take on the clients that really need us to transform their situation and will receive a clear return on investment.

We believe

Our businesses are time-sensitive, and therefore we simply can’t afford to chase prospects or spend time having lengthy conversations convincing people why they need us. By structuring our businesses correctly, prospects will come to use pre-sold and ready to buy.

We believe

Sales is a central part of our business and what we do, but we are not salespeople. By helping our prospect fully understand the extent of their problem and offering valuable insights, we empower our prospect to make the right decision for them – and because we agree with this decision, we’ll have no need for awkward follow up calls.

We believe

The right time to start a business is when you see a problem in the world that needs fixing and are adamant it needs fixing your way!

Who am I?

I am a LinkedIn Profile Expert who began my entrepreneurial career as a Life Coach in 2006. After making all the classic mistakes and writing my book Grassroots to Green Shoots about the lessons I learned, I was determined to rectify my wrongs and master the art of winning new business as a solo-entrepreneur.

I went on the establish TheProfile.Company, becoming a world-leading LinkedIn Profile expert and writing my book What to Put on Your LinkedIn Profile. Before long, I began to notice that not only did people tend to undersell themselves on their profile, but they were missing vital business components, that if put in place, would dramatically change their results.

It was from here that The Expert Economy was born.

The Expert Economy Book

I began The Expert Economy after years of reviewing LinkedIn profiles and then writing them for solo-entrepreneurs. During this time, I noticed that the majority of expert-led business didn’t have the structures in place to enable prospects to come to their business pre-sold and ready to buy, and therefore couldn’t make LinkedIn really work for them.

Wanting to help other Expert Entrepreneurs take the road less travelled, I began The Expert Economy.

philosophy

We believe that Expert Entrepreneurs should be billing 70% of their time, spending 20% of their time studying to remain an expert in their industry and 10% of their time moving all the pieces around. When we make sales and marketing a natural by-product of our study time we remain inspired and fulfilling our purpose.

Sales conversations are an opportunity to help a prospect fully understand the extent of their problem and offer valuable solutions. If a prospect can implement the solution by themselves they should do so. We only want to take on the clients that really need us to transform their situation and will receive a clear return on investment.

The goal of an Expert is to solve meaningful problems for their clients, taking them from where they are now to where they need to get to. They may not have all the answers or know all the variables, but they have the experience to know how to navigate the course and stick with the client until they arrive at the destination.
